The discounts can be predefined prior to use and then during checkout merchants could select discount and select items to apply it to. (Items in the shopping cart). As an alternative to the settings above, merchants can have a completely manual process where by they create discount during the transaction and then apply it to item(s) in the shopping cart. Both methods achieve the same result.

Manual Discounts App enables merchants to manually issue discounts to items that are currently in the shopping cart.
The app has an ability to issue discount as
1. % Off (Percentage Off original item price)
2. $ Off (Dollar Amount Off original item price)
3. Overwrite (Overwrite the amount of selected item to said dollar amount)

The functionality of Manual Discounts is limited to the Smart POS device, there is no other hardware interaction.
This app is designed spesifically for merchants who are interested in maintaining disocunting manually. Rather than setting up automated triggers, merchants will manually choose and assign discount during checkout.

Example Business Scenario 1:
Merchant participates in Manufacturer Volume Rebates Programs and discounts which will drive sales throughout the days to change based on whats going on with manufacturers. In this case, merchants wont be able to schedule discounts and can use the Manual Discounts app to manually control the issueance of pre-defined discounts during the checkout process.
Example Business Scenario 2:
Merchants completely like the native use of discounts becasue its 100% integrted with Clover. The only issue the merchant has is that native discounting mechanism does not allow for naming of discounts as a list. The merchant can use the Manual Discounts app and pre-define the list of discounts they wish to manually apply. The names used in disocount are the names that are then reflected in te native Clover reports app under the discounts section.
